Rani Singh is a PhD candidate researching cultural economy of new Silk Roads through interrogating Buddhism as a geocultural form. Her research focuses on how BRI is recreating concepts of geoculturalism, geoheritage and geotourism in countries with shared Buddhist heritage. She is interested in exploring the strategic and selective use of traditional Chinese cultural history in the context of BRI.
Rani has a M.Phil in Chinese Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University and PG from Beijing Language and Culture University. Her previous work experiences include teaching Chinese Language and Literature at Delhi University, JNU, Indian Naval Academy and working as a Chinese interpreter for the Prime Minister's Office, New Delhi.
